About the unit
The L.A. Times Guild represents nearly 300 newsroom staffers, including reporters, photographers, videojournalists, copy editors, assistant editors, art directors, and other workers — all essential to producing the journalism that keeps Angelenos informed and connected.
Times journalists made history by voting to unionize, 248 to 44, in January 2018. Their groundbreaking first contract, won in October 2019, led to an average raise of more than $11,000 per person in its first year, established new salary minimums and regular step increases based on industry experience, set limits on the company’s ability to outsource union work, created just-cause job protections, expanded parental leave and much more.
